The Working Relationship between Home Stagers and Real Estate Agents with Damon Sellis

July 16, 2016 by Naomi

It is so important to have a strong relationship with home stagers. Myself being a real estate agent, I know the benefits of working closely with a select group of home stagers that I know and trust.

Home stagers work with me in evaluating each space and rooms in a property from a buyer’s point of view. In essence each of us are trying to maximise a property’s sale potential. Working closely with a home staging company allows a rapport to develop and an effective working relationship to continue.

At times vendors of a property may need a little more influencing than others that their home could benefit from the services of a home staging company; whether it necessitates a full makeover using the staging company’s furniture and accessories or utilising existing furniture and pieces to improve the properties flow and character. Investing in a quality agent may also entail vendors to follow the agents lead and advice and for many in this market this may call for the need to invest on home staging and styling.
‘In essence we are working together to maximise a property’s sale price’

We can work together to change vendors mindsets that staging a property is not just for the ‘elite’ but now a ‘must have’ before putting a home on the market. As a team we can assure or at times encourage vendors of the benefits of staging a home, and together encourage vendors that the investment they are making in the home staging benefits all involved in the sales process.

It is also imperative that home stagers meet the needs of vendors and agents alike, as really in most vendors first engage an agent, who then recommends a home staging company. The agent has built a trust with the vendors who have signed an agency agreement for them to sell their property and it is the agent who is then recommending the services of a home staging company.

Home stagers will always be a success in a busy real estate market if they meet the vendors and agents brief, are dynamic and able to transition a property at short notice and of course have a keen eye for detail and have on trend furniture, artwork and styling pieces.
