What you'll need to DIY makeover your desk
- Sanding block and sandpaper
- Cloth wipe
- Paint (I used a French grey emulsion paint)
- Paint brushes and paint rollers
- Topcoat
- Wax
How To DIY Makeover Your Desk
STEP 1
Remove all the drawers and hardware. Using the sanding block with the sanding paper, give the desk a light sand. Note: this takes a fair bit of patience because there are so many angles and compartments to sand!
STEP 2
Wipe down the whole desk with a cloth wipe. This will remove any dust, in preparation for painting
STEP 3
Using a paint brush and a paint roller, paint over the drawers and the entire desk with your desired colour
STEP 4
After the first coat of paint is dry, lightly sand the desk and the drawers again
STEP 5
Paint a second coat over the desk and the drawers. Then, paint two layers of topcoat over the desk and drawers
STEP 6
Using a sanding block, rub back some of the edges and details of the desk. If you are worried about this step, start somewhere on the desk that you won't see. Do this until you get into the groove and flow of it
STEP 7
Paint wax all over the desk then wipe down the desk
