What you are going to need
- Faux turf
- Turf pegs from many turf supply store (only use turf pegs if you are applying the turf on ground or dirt. We are applying our turf on compressed fibre cement)
- Broom
- Tape measure
- Stanley knife
- A long straight edge or a long straight piece of timber
- Double-sided outdoor mounting tape
- Single-sided 100 mil wide turf joining tape
Step by step Instruction
STEP 1
Using a broom, clean and sweep the area you plan to lay your faux turf on. Ensure there are no sticks or rocks.
STEP 3
Measure the turf to cover the length of the site. Then, using a Stanley knife against a straight edge, cut it to size. If your turf isn't wide enough, then cut it into two strips to cover the width of the site.
The longer your straight edge is, the easier it is to cut your turf. Alternatively, you can use a long straight piece of timber.
STEP 4
Trim off the black strips on either side of the turf. This will ensure a nice, clean join in the middle and on the edges.
STEP 5
After you trim your turf to size, rotate it. Then, drag it to a point where the turf fits and sits nicely within the lines of your site.
STEP 6
Apply a few strips of double-sided outdoor mounting tape underneath the outside edges of the turf. Lay the turf down on the compressed fibre cement.
STEP 7
Peel off the top layer of the tape. Then, press the turf down over the tape. Stand on top of the turf, holding it down.
However, if you are pressing the turf on another surface (e.g. ground or dirt), then you can peg it down using turf pegs.
STEP 8
In the middle of the turf, join the bits of turf together. Put down a strip of single-sided 100 mil wide turf joining tape and stick it to one side of the turf.
Then drag the other side of the turf up, line it up and then place it down. Press both sides of the turf down and tread on them.
STEP 9
Run one bit of double-sided tape down the balustraded side of the turf. This will prevent the turf from twisting on the edge.
STEP 10
With a broom, brush the join line a little bit. Over time, your faux turf should knit together.
Enjoy your new lawn!
