#Step 1 - UNDERCOAT

I'm using a Zinsser CoverStain to seal up all the old lacquer and old stains and give it a perfect chance that the topcoat is sticking very well.

I really want a silky, smooth surface, so it has that gorgeous glossy finish when I spray this one.

#Step 2 - HAND SAND

Once the cover stain is completely dry, I like to give it hand sand, just lightly sand!

#Step 3 - SPRAY THE TOP COAT

Now let's take a step back. It is time to bring some life into the matching set of dining chairs!

Now it's time to recover these seat pads, and they've come up quite well...

The first thing to do is cut out your fabric, making sure you leave enough room to fold it around the base simply. So many people are frightened of reupholstering, but it just likes wrapping presents.

Before you are putting in any staples, make sure that you have enough to wrap up.

So you've always going to have some type of folding around your corners, and it depends on what looks you want. Have a play! You don't have to get it right every time!

So these timber chairs were a little bit crumbly, so we finish it all nice and neat. We have the front, and I've just added a single panel to the back to make sure that I protect the integrity of the timber because it was on its way out and give it a nice neat finish.
