Everybody has their strengths and areas of development – when it comes to business a great example would be that some of us aren’t as good at organisation and paperwork than others, or that some people are a lot more hands on than others… But the question really is, how do we manage our time between our strengths and weaknesses?
First off, focus on your strengths! Not only do you know that you are doing a good job, but you are building more confidence in yourself, as well as motivation. if you are good at something you usually have fun doing it and you create a positive work atmosphere and mindset. Focus on what you do best and spend a larger proportion of time on these tasks than focusing on your weaknesses.
When it does come to your areas of development, don’t avoid them. Don’t ignore them. Face them with the same positive mindset that you would for your strengths. A positive mind will create positive energy and you may find that you approach the task at hand with a happier “can-do-attitude”. Spend time on your weaknesses but don’t forget about your strengths! Your strengths not only give you a positive job satisfaction but they are what you are good at so you will boost business and get more tasks completed! A great way to think about weaknesses is a quote “If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again”. The worst thing to do is become frustrated with a task, so take it slow and remember that you can always try again!
