It’s time to take action
Whether you say you can or say you cannot either way you are right. This quote by Henry Ford is one that rings true for me and I am sure at some level it rings true for you too.
This final blog is designed to help you put together the ideas you have come up with from my previous writing and give you a process to follow when writing your goals as you move forward.
When writing goals I like to use the SSMART acronym. When you write goals following this system they are easier to achieve. Here’s how it goes:-
S – Stated (written down and articulated) in the positive. Write it down and have it somewhere that you will see it a number of times throughout the day.
S – Specific. Be clear and concise in what you want to achieve as well as making it important and challenging.
M – Meaningful and motivational. Make it something YOU want to do.
A – Achievable. Make sure it is within your reach.
R – Realistic. Think about the other parts of your life and make sure you are being fair on yourself by setting this goal.
T – Time based in the future. This way your mind believes that you have achieved it and helps you to realise it.
Having worked through SSMART I use the template below to write down my goals.
It is now……………………………………………………….
(Write the exact date in here for when you intend to reach your goal)
And I am………………………………………………………
(Write what you are doing that tells you that you have reached your goal)
Here is an example:
It is now the May 30th 2013 and I am celebrating the $100 000 worth of sales from the beginning five months of the year!
