Feeling fatigued and chasing vitality
It’s around this time of year we need to reset and re-direct ourselves back to our Self.
Whether your entrepreneurial ambitions launching your new products and services are in full swing, your children are finally back to school, or your business is back to work as normal… we are often left feeling depleted—maybe you haven’t observed within and paused since last year.
As businesswomen, mothers, and the day-to-day roles we play in life, we all need a lift and some re-direction back to ourselves. Somewhere in the midst of all this striving to keep the house, be the best wife, the attentive mum, and the successful businesswoman, we can lose what it is to be ourselves.
We often wander around, ignoring that we have a body; we ignore those little niggling pains, the levels of stress and symptoms that we take for granted because we’ve had them all along.
Let’s take a little body scan… It’s a check-in that most of us don’t usually take the time to do for our bodies. Simply make your way through six of all the different systems of your body and check in to see what’s been going on.
Begin by asking yourself:
- What is your body putting up with?
- What has happened to your body?
- What has it been through?
- Have you been feeling tired?
- Do you have a sense of overwhelm in your daily life?
Anything you tick represents physical stressors and all of these things are going to impact on your adrenal health because your adrenal glands register not only body stress, but emotional stress, psychological stress and mental stress too.
And, don’t rush…take your time to complete The Body Scan.

Now that you’ve completed your check-in, what did you notice?
Were you aware of those different things?
Did you find a bit of a surprise as to how many ticks you had?
Perhaps it was a nice surprise that you didn’t have a lot?
Was there anything new that you hadn’t noticed before?
Often we notice there’s a weak spot in most people’s bodies, a bit like if we’ve had an injury earlier in our lives. When we’re rundown or tired, it’s the place that usually goes first. For some people, it’s recurrent upper respiratory tract infections or the common cold or flu. Or maybe their tummy always goes when they’re a bit rundown. For others, it might be something else. Just have a look and see which one is your weak spot.
The interesting thing I have found for entrepreneurs is that this weak spot is usually triggered by an upper limit. Upper limiting is the term introduced by Gay Hendricks in his book, The Big Leap. Here’s the link for you: http://www.amazon.com/The-Big-Leap-Conquer-Hidden/dp/0061735361
It’s used to describe moving from one level up to another whole way of being.
Interestingly, this is the time I usually see entrepreneurs, businesswomen and mums have issues with their health. I’ve found it’s helpful to think about the body having its own sentience.
Your body is different to your Self. Your Self is the part of you with dreams, visions, and aspirations. Your body goes along for the ride. Our body gives us signs and signals all day. We drag it around with us here, there and everywhere, sometimes forgetting to give it water, sometimes forgetting to feed it and often forgetting to play. If your body truly were a pet or child, wouldn’t we consider that abuse?
So when you’ve looked at all of those ticks on your body scan, is there something that you need to focus on to help you feel well and more energised? This simple and enlightening exercise is to invite you to focus a little more and be more present to what’s actually happening within your body. I hope it has helped you!
Keep well,
