Things not to forget – Tip 1

November 23, 2012 by Naomi

Paying attention to details is very important while staging a home to be sold. All of the details may be over whelming and cause a home stager to forget to check something. Over the next five days I will be sending you five top tips to home staging, five of the most important things not to forget to check while staging a home.

Tip 1 – Street- appeal

The starting point of someone looking for a house is driving through neighborhoods looking for houses up for sale. The first thing that home buyers see is the outside of the house. The curb appeal is the most important in staging a house. The curb appeal gives the first impression of what the house looks like inside. It also gives an impression of how well the house was maintained. No one wants to purchase a home that was maintained poorly because that leaves more headaches for the buyer.

Street appeal for the home should include:

  1. Lawn care and landscape. Letting the grass get too long while the house is on the market is a big turn off for buyers. Having nice maintained flower beds and trimmed trees is also very welcoming.
  2. Clean footpaths and driveway. There should not be any grass and mud in the walk way.  If snow falls make sure it is not in walking path.
  3. Clean the outside of the house. Pressure washing the sides, the deck, gutters and making the windows shine will make the house look as good as new.
